What's in a name?
Each season Essie
Weingarten has the difficult task of naming six new colors of polish. Naming a
polish is tricky; however the key to the success of Essie Cosmetics is not only the
glorious colors, but the descriptive memorable names. The color palate for each new
collection is chosen from the runways of Paris, Milan and New York as well as from Essie's
own everyday experiences.
For the
fall 2002 Collection, Essie whizzes by on her Vespa scooter and has named her
collection Go Go. Among the names to look for are: Cabi-o-lait, Fondala Gondola, Orient
X-presso and Vava Vroom.

For Fall / Winter 2002, the fashion runways of Europe promise a
season of beautiful choices, individual interpretations and lots of originality.
Designers have taken
the best of the last several decades and combined them for a fashion profile that is part
diva, part hippie and all fabulous! From the retro-perfect long skirts, baggy pants &
skinny sweaters of the 1930s and ’40s to the "proper" dresses of the 1960s
and the peasant look of the 1970s, this season is a marvelous mix of updated vintage &
uptown chic.
Look for lots of
denim in distressed finishes; blouson jackets that show off the waist; peasant-style
blouses accentuated by textured, embossed leather belts; daywear accessorized by lace,
buttons & crochet; and eveningwear with a nod to the glamorous ’80s. And watch
for mixed moods - like jeans worn with jewels!
The season’s
color palette reflects fashion’s contrasts. Diva-esque tones of near-black browns, burgundies, eggplant, olive & midnight blue are
complemented by cool neutrals of winter white, ivory, gray & camel – while softer
harvest shades of toasted peach, pumpkin, spice, cinnamon & mauve bring out the
season’s bohemian-style influence.
The European
Collection by OPI captures fashion’s dual palette with style and exuberance. Inspired
by the world’s most fashion-forward continent, it offers diva-worthy jewel tones
combined with the best of Autumn’s gentler colors.
